Natalie Sexon
by Natalie Jamie Sexton
I wanted to create garments that would be a key feature of a garment and that would be easy for other people to make. Taking a plane shirt and customising it, creating different looks but never buying another shirt. I used old Vinyl’s, beads, buttons and fabric to create new shirts and using methods I think anyone can do. The Windsor's and Refreshed store has been a big inspiration for me from the beginning; Vivienne Westwood too as she is a very dedicated sustainable designer and finally from up-cycled and recycled stores; charity shops, Cow in Birmingham and high-street stores. I wanted inspiration that would link with trends for now; fast fashion that can sell well in Windsor's and Refreshed for a reasonable price that people will buy.
In the near future I've planned to make a final year collection in university and in later life own my own boutique where I will sell one of pieces I have designed.
